when the city is still slowly waking up.
warm scones spread with clotted cream
and fresh jam
are mouthwateringly good
paired with a selection of the most

I want to know what the blue flower is.
Across from me is an old man from Sweden.
We made conversation as two strangers alone in a restaurant do
and I learned that he spent a month in the Highlands.
There is a colorful array of pens on his table.
I am journaling and writing poetry while he sketches, pots of hot tea beside us.
Our art keeps us company
so we don’t look so alone.
