Like a butterfly, I am constantly evolving and changing and growing.
On January 20, 2018 I gave myself a 30 day challenge of blogging every single day for 30 days.
Well, it’s been a little over 30 days and I wanted to reflect and share on what completing this challenge brought up for me.
I decided to make this commitment because I kept having all these visions and manifestations for my blog, but I wasn’t actually blogging. I dreamed and imagined but I wasn’t actually doing the thing and was letting what I wanted to do become a low priority.
I decided it was time to just do it. Blog every day for 30 days straight, no matter if I had no ideas, just to sit down and write and see what came up.
I also committed myself to just doing it for the joy of it. I didn’t set any expectations. I just wanted to play.
In these past 30 days, I discovered what kind of writing I’m passionate about, what type of content I want to create for others, and what lessons I hold valuable and want to share with the world.
The more ideas I thought of to blog about, the more ideas came. I felt like I was never running out of creative ideas.
I rediscovered my deep love for poetry.
I reignited my passion for traveling and exploring other cities to be able to write about.
I started revisiting my past experiences and seeing in what way I could share from those experiences.
It felt like suddenly, all my past experiences had a purpose, instead of feeling like they were insignificant, they were just another lesson I learned in the school of life.
My past lessons, as well as the lessons I am learning in the present keep shaping me into who I am and even if they are simple, profound, or anything in between it feels like they happened for a reason if I’m able to share it with other people.
I still have fears about sharing this blog with people I know. I’ve shared it with a few close friends and family, but haven’t posted it to my larger community.
I feel like as soon as I do, I’ll be blogging for them rather than for myself. That’s why these 30 days have been so wonderful, because they’ve simply been for me.
Even though my 30 days are over, I still plan on blogging if not every day then at least every couple days.
I still have so many ideas of blog posts and where I want this to go.
I’m not sure if you’re reading this, but if you are, thank you.
I hope you gain something from my words and you get just a sliver of the joy that I get when I’m writing, creating, and sharing.
